Great Show, Bad Parking
I attended the show with Mrs. Rock, being huge admirers of "Real Time" and Ty Myers's straightforward approach to political humor. We arrived at the venue half an hour before the show, only to find a long line for parking that resulted in an additional 40 minutes of waiting to park on the top level (without a roof) of the parking structure in the rain, which was quite frustrating. Fortunately, we were able to park close to the elevator, which wasn't too bad. Upon entering, we noticed the show had not yet begun, possibly due to half the audience waiting in line to park or Ty being preoccupied backstage.
Our seats were fantastic, situated in the middle at the back of the orchestra section. Ty delivered a hilarious performance, although there was some material that felt recycled from recent episodes of "Real Time" and familiar Republican/religion jokes that seemed borrowed from HBO specials or even Religulous. While I understand Ty's busy schedule and the challenge of updating his road show frequently, reusing punchlines diminishes their impact when you've just heard the joke a few days prior.
Overall, Ty's show was enjoyable, though it might be more appealing to a casual fan less familiar with his viewpoints and humor. Unapologetically vulgar and cleverly witty as always, he delivered a memorable performance, particularly with his closing bit on the exaggerated violence in "movie sex."
